The beginings of the Folk dance group go as far back as the foundation of the Lyceum Club of Greek Women of Salamis (Likion ton Ellinidon Salaminas) in 1982.

The most important features of the folk dance Group are the preservtion of Greek traditions and the presentation of our cuture. The concern for the authenticity of traditional dances, costumes and music has led to the field research, which results in the constant enrichment of the Group's repertoire.

Gradually, the Greek Lyceum Club's folk dance Group becomes known to Greece and abroad through its main theatrical performances such as at the Herodes Atticus Theatre, in Dublin (Ireland), the festival Zemplen in Hungary, the festival "Castagna d'oro", in Italy, The festival "Musique et folklore" of Angers , in France , Festival internationale Del Folklore "Citta Di Avola" in Sicilia.

One of the main reasons of the success of the performances of Lyceum Club of Greek Women of Salamis, is the fact that each group of dances is presented in authentic regional dress. Since 1983, the Group has been under the artistic direction of Glafkos Harmantas.
